Bill Rumsey is a fifty-five year old husband to Renee. Together they had their miracle baby, Embrie, who
just turned four years old and is definitely a daddy’s girl. Bill is a devout Christian and holds on tightly to the hope
God provides. Bill made a career change late in life and went to school to fulfill his dream of helping others in
need by becoming a registered nurse. Previously, he had worked in the airline industry. He became a registered
nurse and worked at an area hospital for a few years and then began doing private nursing. On April 30th, Bill
was taken to the ER for shortness of breath where it was discovered he had a cancerous mass on his right
kidney. On June 10th, Bill had his kidney removed. After four days in the hospital, he went home. Bill went back
to the E.R. on June 15th, where it was determined he was septic. Bill returned to surgery. It was found the right
part of his colon died and was leaking into his body. Bill was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. It was minute
by minute and only time would tell what would happen. After six days in the ICU, Bill was moved to his own room.
In total, he spent fifty-nine days in the hospital and then another two and a half weeks in a rehab facility. Just
recently, Bill’s nephrologist told him and Renee that his remaining kidney is starting to fail and his prognosis is
unknown at this time.
Although the greatest gift happened when Bill came home, life had changed. Bill’s recovery process will
take an undetermined a point of time. Renee is a stay at home mom and all of the uncovered medical expenses
are piling. Also, there is no longer money coming in from Bill because of not being able to work right now and for
at least the rest of this year, possibly longer. Therefore, there is an insurmountable financial strain, while trying to
focus on Bill’s healing. It would help immensely to receive donations to help with medical expenses and living
expenses. Bill has always helped others and now he needs help. If you could help, it would be greatly
appreciated, more than any words could express. Also, prayers would be wonderful as the recovery journey
